Wow. Look at Manton Playground. It’s more than just swings and slides. This vibrant space holds a secret history. A story of community resilience. A testament to the power of shared dreams.

Manton Playground isn’t just a place for kids to play. It’s a hub. A heart. Once the site of Manton School. This school was the lifeblood of the community for decades. It closed in 2018 leaving a void. Children were bused far away. The school sat empty. Except for a small non-profit working hard to keep the children’s spirits up. They also had the annual Manton Apple Festival. This was a bright spot in the town’s life.

But the community didn’t give up. In 2022 they rallied. They raised money to buy the old school campus. The Manton Parks non-profit was formed. This was a turning point. They secured funds. Eighty-six thousand dollars came from community donations. A generous seventy-five thousand dollars arrived from the McConnell Foundation. In October 2023 the campus was theirs.

Now Manton Parks is busy making improvements. They offer after-school programs. A youth library. Gathering spaces. This was the once-empty school. Now it thrives. It pulses with life again.

The playground itself is part of this revitalization. It’s a place where kids laugh and play. Where memories are made. Where a community has chosen to rebuild. It’s a symbol of hope. A reminder that even after loss. A community can thrive. Manton Playground isn’t just a park. It’s a legacy. A beautiful one. Built by a community’s love and hard work. Come visit Manton Playground. Feel its spirit. Share its story.
