Is it possible for a neighborhood to be both historic and modern? Heungin-dong is such a place. It is a legal dong or neighborhood. It is in the Jung-gu district in Seoul. Heungin-dong is governed by Sindang 1-dong.

Heungin-dong is home to the Chungmu Arts Hall. This is a multi-purpose cultural complex. It is near Sindang Station. The Hall has a Grand Theater. It seats 1231 people. There is also a Black Theater and a Blue Theater. The Black Theater has 327 seats. The Blue Theater has 258 seats. The Chungmu Gallery is for art installations. There is a sports hall. It has a gymnasium, fitness room, and dance studios. There is also a swimming pool. Finally, there is the Chungmu Academy.
Many events have occurred at the Chungmu Arts Hall. Lee Min Woo of Shinhwa held concerts here. They were titled M’s Acoustic & Unplugged. They ran from October 15 to 25, 2009. The musical The Three Musketeers played here. It ran from December 15, 2010, to mid-January 2011. Kyuhyun of Super Junior played D’Artagnan. He rotated with TRAX’s Jay “Typhoon” Kim. Yoo Jun Sang, Im Ki Jun, Kim Mu Yul, and Dana Hong were also in it. The musical Jack the Ripper also played at the Grand Theater. It ran from July 5 to August 14, 2011. Ahn Jae-wook, Um Ki-joon, and Lee Ji-hoon rotated in the lead role. Sungmin of Super Junior also played Daniel.
