So in 1685 this magnificent stone storehouse was constructed. It’s remarkably resilient. The walls are an impressive 2.4 meters thick. Built entirely of granite it’s waterproof and fireproof. This makes it unique in Japan. The interior was carefully plastered. It held an enormous amount of gunpowder a vital resource for the castle’s defenses. The 172 square meter space was carefully prepared and maintained.
