“Bewegte Schule”. What does that even mean? It means we are standing in front of Grundschule Tornquiststraße. This isn’t just any school. Grundschule Tornquiststraße is a place that emphasizes movement and activity.

Grundschule Tornquiststraße is located in the heart of Eimsbüttel. It is a primary school. Around 375 children attend here. They are taught in 15 classes including two preschool classes. A team of 26 dedicated teachers is responsible for teaching. Among them are a special education teacher and an educator.

Since 2007 the “Torni” has held the title of “Bewegte Schule”. This translates to “School in Motion”. The school provides a wide range of movement activities. These support even very talented children. The school grounds themselves encourage activity.

Holiday care is also offered from 6 AM to 6 PM. This happens during all Hamburg school holidays. The only exception is between Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

The meals are supplied by Porschke Menümanufaktur. Porschke prefers regional and seasonal products. They do not use pork. They also avoid artificial flavors and colors. Students can choose from different dishes every day.
