Reflecting the majestic Amber Fort in its shimmering waters, Maota Lake whispers tales of love and valor. Welcome to Maota Lake a place where history and romance intertwine.

Once known as Mahavata, the lake earned its current name from the dense trees that surround it. Imagine this: It’s the 15th century. A Maharaja stands on the banks of Mahavata Lake. He surveys the landscape and envisions a garden of saffron. That vision became Kesar Kyari Bagh, an island garden blooming with saffron.

Maota Lake, located at the base of Amber Fort, was once the lifeblood of this region. Rainwater from the surrounding hills flowed into the lake. It provided water for both the fort and the people of Amber. Picture elephants carrying dignitaries up to Amber Fort, their reflections rippling in Maota Lake’s surface. Today, there is no fee to visit the lake.

The lake is located about 11 kilometers from the center of Jaipur, at the base of Amber Fort. The island, Kesar Kyari Bagh, is a beautiful sight. It is said that the saffron plants were planted by a Maharaja in the 15th century. Dil-Aaram Bagh graces the lake’s northern edge.

But Maota Lake is more than just a water source. It’s a stage for celebrations. During Ganesh Chaturthi, statues are paraded here for immersion. The colorful processions reflect on the water creating unforgettable scenes.

Have you heard about the light and sound show? As darkness falls, Amber Fort transforms into a canvas of light. The story of Jaipur’s regal past unfolds on its walls. The illuminated fort shimmers in Maota Lake mirroring history.

Many come to Maota Lake seeking romance. The still waters mirror the golden Amber Fort. The site evokes the tale of Jodha and Akbar, a legendary love story. Whether it’s a proposal, photographs, or quiet contemplation, Maota Lake offers a memorable experience.

Whether bathed in daylight or illuminated at night, Maota Lake casts a spell. It is a reminder of Jaipur’s rich history. It is a perfect blend of natural beauty and man-made splendor. So take a moment. Breathe in the air. Let the stories of Maota Lake fill your imagination.
