“Founded in 1970”. That’s the date that marks the beginning of Nh\u00e0 th\u1edd Gi\u00e1o x\u1ee9 Xu\u00e2n H\u00f2a’s story. This church is dedicated to Saint Paul the Apostle.
Nh\u00e0 th\u1edd Gi\u00e1o x\u1ee9 Xu\u00e2n H\u00f2a started as a simple gathering. It grew from a small group of believers in 1970. They officially became a parish on March 18 1971. Bishop Giuse L\u00ea V\u0103n \u1ea4n signed the decree. He appointed Father \u0110aminh Tr\u1ea7n \u0110\u00ecnh Ph\u00fac Qu\u00fd as the first parish priest. Nh\u00e0 th\u1edd Gi\u00e1o x\u1ee9 Xu\u00e2n H\u00f2a chose Saint Paul the Apostle as their patron saint.
During his service Father \u0110aminh helped build essential structures. These included the parish house a catechism hall and a temporary church. These provided a space for worship and prayer. After April 30 1975 economic hardships caused many parishioners to seek new opportunities. They moved to new economic zones and other areas. Despite these challenges the community’s faith remained strong. Successive priests continued to nurture and care for the congregation.
The parishioners of Nh\u00e0 th\u1edd Gi\u00e1o x\u1ee9 Xu\u00e2n H\u00f2a worked together. They renovated the church and developed the parish. Their faith and unity grew stronger. In 1982 a more permanent church was completed. It featured a solid structure and a tôn roof. Over time the parish population increased. The original church facilities became inadequate.
In 1993 Father Gioan Baotixta Nguy\u1ec5n V\u0103n Qu\u1ebf was appointed. He led the community in constructing a new spacious church. This is the one you see today. In 2013 Father Phaol\u00f4 Nguy\u1ec5n Tr\u1ecdng Xu\u00e2n succeeded Father Gioan Baotixita. Since September 8 2018 Father Gioan Bt L\u1ea1i Anh Tu\u1ea5n has been in charge. Under his guidance the parish’s activities have become more organized.
Nh\u00e0 th\u1edd Gi\u00e1o x\u1ee9 Xu\u00e2n H\u00f2a is surrounded by other parishes. To the east lies the Trinh V\u01b0\u01a1ng parish. To the west are the T\u00e2n Mai and B\u00f9i H\u01b0ng parishes. The \u0110aminh parish is to the south and the Th\u00e1i Hi\u1ec7p and Gia C\u1ed1c parishes to the north. The parish covers an area of 2 square kilometers.
Today Nh\u00e0 th\u1edd Gi\u00e1o x\u1ee9 Xu\u00e2n H\u00f2a continues to thrive. It maintains a stable community life. Parishioners uphold traditional religious practices. They preserve ancient cultural elements. These include kiệu processions and flower offerings. The parish has various groups. These include the Third Order the Rosary Group and the Joseph Association. There are also choir catechism teachers a children’s group a brass band and a traditional music team. Father Gioan Bt L\u1ea1i Anh Tu\u1ea5n currently leads the parish. The parish has grown from 2500 members in 1970 to 2794 in 2025. Nh\u00e0 th\u1edd Gi\u00e1o x\u1ee9 Xu\u00e2n H\u00f2a stands as a testament to enduring faith.
