“Nearly 35 years ago,” someone whispers beside you, “this very ground saw the first Saifee Masjid rise.” This is the Saifee Masjid, a serene beacon in Dubai’s Deira district. It stands as one of the earliest mosques built by the Dawoodi Bohra community in the Gulf.

Imagine the early days of the Dawoodi Bohra community in Dubai. They were a small group with big dreams. They worked tirelessly to establish their presence in the UAE. The Saifee Masjid became the heart of their community.

Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin, the 52nd Dai-ul-Mutlaq, played a pivotal role. He visited the UAE over 50 times. His dedication helped the community flourish. Fakhruddin bhaisaheb Aamir, the Aamil of Dubai in 1396H or 1976 AD, also envisioned the need for a mosque. He also wanted a complex to serve the growing Dawoodi Bohra population. At that time they numbered around 3,000.

In January 2018, Dr Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, the 53rd Fatimi Dai, inaugurated the renovated Saifee Masjid. He spoke of the community’s initial struggles to build the mosque. His words echoed the past. They also celebrated the present.

The Saifee Masjid isn’t just a place of prayer. It is a symbol of unity and perseverance. It reflects the Dawoodi Bohra community’s journey in Dubai. The UAE Rulers and government have consistently supported the Dawoodi Bohra community. They also support all communities who choose to settle in the nation.

The mosque’s design blends traditional and modern elements. Inside you’ll find prayer, dining, and educational halls. Intricate patterns and elegant chandeliers adorn the interiors. The details create a serene and inviting atmosphere.

The Floorist enhanced the Saifee Masjid’s ambiance. They installed customized printed carpets in each hall in November 2020. These carpets add visual appeal and provide a welcoming vibe. Each hall’s carpet reflects its purpose. This ensures every visitor feels comfortable and inspired. The project covered 2000 sqm.

On one Friday, Dr Saifuddin gave a sermon at the Burhani Masjid in Al Qusais. Approximately 17000 people attended. Over 5000 visitors from about 80 different cities flew in from outside the UAE. The sermon was relayed live to the Saifee Masjid. It also went to other masjids and community centers in Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, and Ajman.

Today the Saifee Masjid stands as a testament to faith and community. Its walls have witnessed decades of prayers and gatherings. Its halls have echoed with sermons and celebrations. As you leave, remember the story of the Saifee Masjid. Remember the community that built it. And remember the leaders who guided them.
