The Art & Design Center Campus Safety isn’t just about security. It’s about community. It’s a vital part of the college experience. They ensure students staff and visitors feel safe. They work hard to prevent crime and protect the college’s property.
This dedication extends beyond routine patrols. They provide first aid. They arrange emergency medical transport. They offer crime prevention programs and safety education. They even help with jump starts and tire inflation. Think of them as your campus good Samaritans always ready to assist.
They maintain close ties with the Detroit Police Department and Wayne State University Police Department. This collaboration creates a safer environment. They are non-sworn officers. This means they can’t make arrests. They can however detain individuals until police arrive. Reporting incidents is key. The Art & Design Center encourages prompt reporting to Campus Safety. This helps with investigations and preserves evidence.
Campus Safety also manages access cards. These cards grant access to parking structures stairwells and elevators. Students are encouraged to wear their IDs at all times. Lost or broken cards can be replaced. But there’s a small fee. The Art & Design Center even has a shuttle service running between campuses. It’s manned by security officers. They use RideHop a ride-tracking app. This lets students know where the shuttles are.
The Art & Design Center utilizes an extensive network of over 250 closed-circuit cameras. These are monitored 24/7. They also have emergency call boxes throughout both campuses.
