In 1863, Herman bought land. This site included a pre-existing burial ground. Friedrich and Jakob later owned the cemetery property. The burial ground became known as the Strack Cemetery. Descendants still manage the site today. They do this through an association. The Texas Historical Commission designated it a Historic Texas Cemetery in 2004.
Graves of military veterans are here. They date back to the Civil War. The Strack family has a long history in this area. In 1888, Jacob Strack bought 602 acres. The land was south of Cypress Creek. He paid $1350. That was about $2.25 per acre. He wanted to build a large sawmill. His sawmill became the most prominent one in the neighborhood.
