Yoido Full Gospel Church didn’t just grow in size. It also branched out into many ministries. These included a prayer mountain a television studio and a welfare town. The church also established Hansei University and supports overseas missions. The church also played a significant role in South Korea’s social life. They have held special prayer meetings during times of national crisis. They recently announced financial incentives for members having children. This reflects their response to the country’s low birthrate.
The church has faced controversies. There were allegations of embezzlement involving Pastor Cho. There were accusations of an affair. Recently there was controversy over the senior pastor’s support of a controversial figure.
