Here, in Mianzhu City, we stand at a place brimming with history. Mianzhu is a county-level city of Deyang, Sichuan province. It is located in Southwest China. Let’s explore its story together.

Mianzhu covers more than 1,200 square kilometers. The 2020 census recorded a population of 439,958. The city is known for its long history, profound cultural heritage, and picturesque scenery.

The Jiulong Mountains offer stunning views. Rose Valley provides a romantic escape. The Village of New Year Paintings showcases local art. These attractions draw countless visitors each year.

Mianzhu New Year Painting is one of China’s four greatest. During the Chinese Spring Festival, people put New Year Paintings on their front doors. These paintings often feature figures like Fu Wa. Fu Wa is a symbol of fortune and good luck. Visitors can observe the painting process in Mianzhu workshops. They can get a closer look at how artists create these traditional artworks.

Mianzhu is known for producing special products. The pearl from Jiulong Mountain is one such product. Jian Nan Chun is another specialty. This traditional Chinese spirit boasts a 500-year history. The company proudly declares that “what you drink today is what was the Tang Dynasty Palace spirit.”

Once, the value of Jian Nan Chun’s products exceeded three million RMB each year. However, the 2008 earthquake caused significant damage. The amount has decreased to 80 billion since numerous fundamental spirit used to season the taste was lost.

The 2008 Sichuan earthquake heavily damaged Mianzhu. Among the damage was the collapse of Fuxin Number Two Primary School. The Lingguan Tower complex of Nine Dragons Monastery burned down on December 11, 2017. The 16-story gold-covered pagoda dated back to the Ming Dynasty. It was under renovation after the 2008 earthquake damaged it.

Mianzhu has a humid subtropical climate. January sees an average daily mean temperature of 5.5°C. July’s average is 25.6°C. The average annual precipitation is 987.4 mm.

Mianzhu continues to rebuild and thrive. Its cultural traditions and scenic spots endure. The spirit of its people remains strong.
