Bishop Thomas Lee Johnson, Sr. founded Immanuel House of Prayer. He was baptized into the apostolic faith in 1970. He answered the call to ministry soon after. Bishop Johnson was ordained as an Elder in 1974. He was ordained as a Bishop in 1994.
During his ministry, Bishop Johnson founded two Immanuel House of Prayer locations. The first was Immanuel House of Prayer, North in Detroit in 1975. The second was Immanuel House of Prayer, South in Darien, Georgia in 1999. He is Senior Pastor of both churches.
Bishop Johnson also founded the Immanuel Ecumenical Council of Apostolic Churches, International. This council promotes inter-denominational fellowship. It provides ministerial and leadership training. It offers individual and group counseling to pastors and their wives. The council supports community enrichment programs. It promotes academic growth and development.
