Elevated above Montreal’s vibrant streets, the Tour Bell Média stands as a testament to the city’s ever-evolving skyline. The Tour Bell Média, originally known as Place Montreal Trust, wasn’t always home to Bell Media. Built in 1988 for the Montreal Trust Company, it shared its name with the adjacent shopping mall. The 30-story structure reaches a height of 125 meters, piercing the Montreal sky. The architectural firms Eberhard and Eidler, Zeidler Partnership Architects, and Erol Argun collaborated to bring this postmodern design to life. The Tour Bell Média is more than just steel and glass. It represents the changing face of media in Montreal. Initially owned by Cadillac Fairview, the building is now under the ownership of Ivanhoe Cambridge. Before Bell Media took up residence, Astral Media called this tower home. Their corporate headquarters and several French-speaking television stations operated from within these walls. In 2013, Bell acquired Astral Media, leading to the renaming of the building to the Tour Bell Média. The tower became the regional offices for Bell Media. Now, as you gaze upon the Tour Bell Média, you’re not just looking at a building, but at a pivotal point in Montreal’s media history.
