Expecting over 200 children, the Schule Bonhoefferstraße opens its doors each day. This school isn’t just a place of learning. It’s a vibrant community hub.

The Schule Bonhoefferstraße provides education for children in two preschool classes and nine primary school classes. Pupils learn in modern classrooms that include Smartboards and PCs. There are also attractive, child-friendly rooms for afternoon activities.

Inside the Schule Bonhoefferstraße, you will discover well-equipped specialist rooms. These include a music room, a workshop, and a computer room. A learning workshop and a student library are also available.

For sports, the school uses a gymnasium. The nearby Hein-Klink-Stadion is used for special events. The schoolyard is always evolving. It adapts to the needs of active breaks and quiet relaxation. The parents’ association even donated a large nest swing.

The Schule Bonhoefferstraße’s aula serves many purposes. It functions as an entrance hall. It is also a venue for performances and school festivals. At lunchtime, it transforms into a modern canteen. Around 170 nutritious meals are served here during two sittings. In the mornings, a separate area becomes a breakfast oasis. Here, “brotZeit e. V.” provides breakfast for children.

Since 2012/13, the Schule Bonhoefferstraße has offered all-day education and care. This is done in cooperation with the youth welfare organization Kita Elbkinder. Children can be cared for until 4 p.m. or 6 p.m. upon registration.

Additional partners offer diverse courses and activities. These complement the lessons in the afternoons. Interests are sparked, and talents are fostered. Weaknesses are addressed, and lasting friendships are built.

Teachers in training and interns are gladly supervised at the Schule Bonhoefferstraße.

The school has a large green campus with play equipment. This gives students plenty of room to play and let off steam. It is an all-day school with lessons from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Free after-school care is available from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for students in grades 1 to 4. Additional care options are available. Early care is from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m.. Late care is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.. Holiday care is also available. Prices depend on family income.

In the multifunctional aula, a warm lunch with salad is served. Mamma’s Canteen provides the food. Costs vary between 0€ and 3.50€ per meal depending on family income. Students can also have breakfast together in the classroom. Alternatively, they can take advantage of BrotZeit’s free breakfast in the aula before the first lesson. This takes place from 7:15 a.m. to 7:45 a.m..

The timetable includes two long breaks. These are from 9:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. and from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.. There are two double lessons in the morning without the bell ringing and a single lesson. Therapy services are offered during the school day by external practices. These are available via prescription.
