Can a church be born from another church? In the heart of San Diego, Trinity Church stands as a testament to this very idea. Trinity Church emerged from Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Encinitas. In the summer of 2018, a seed was planted. Members of Redeemer Presbyterian Church began to pray and consider a new church plant. Months of planning and prayer culminated in a core group of around 50 people. This group, along with over 100 others, launched Trinity Church on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019. Trinity Church’s vision is clear: to make and mature followers of Jesus. From its inception, Trinity Church aimed to be a place where Christians could grow in their faith. They also wanted to welcome those exploring Christianity. They sought to create a safe space for questions and differences. Trinity Church is deeply committed to the gospel of Jesus Christ. This community strives to live out Jesus’ teachings. They seek renewal in their daily lives. At Trinity Church, the name itself reflects a core belief: the Trinity. They believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They hold the Bible as the inspired word of God. They believe in the story of Adam and Eve, the fall of humanity, and God’s grace. Their faith centers on Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, who lived a sinless life, died on the cross, and rose again. Trinity Church believes that faith in Jesus justifies believers. They emphasize the role of the Holy Spirit in sanctification and Christian living. They believe in the church as the body of Christ. They practice baptism and the Lord’s Supper as means of grace. They embrace the call to live in the world while remaining distinct from it. They believe in the future restoration of all creation under Christ’s reign. Trinity Church’s beliefs are rooted in the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms. They also affirm the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed. They are a member of the Presbyterian Church in America. Trinity Church continues to grow and live out its mission in San Diego.
