In 1953, a seed was planted at the University of Windsor. This seed would blossom into the renowned Odette School of Business. The Odette School of Business wasn’t always a grand building. It began as a simple department, distinct from Economics, under the leadership of Dr. Gilbert Horne. He later became the school’s first dean. Imagine the first graduating class in 1955. A mere sixteen students, clutching their Bachelor of Commerce degrees. The Odette School of Business continued to grow. The first Honours Bachelor of Commerce class graduated in 1960. The first MBA class followed in 1963. The department officially became the Faculty of Business Administration in 1964. Dr. Michael Zin, a member of that very first graduating class, became the second dean in 1973. The faculty found a home in the Education Building at Fanchette Street and Sunset Avenue in 1978. A significant leap forward came in 1991. The Odette School of Business moved into its current, striking building at the corner of Wyandotte Street West and Sunset Avenue. The year 2000 marked another milestone. The Faculty of Business Administration was renamed the Odette School of Business. This honored the enduring support of Edmond and Louis Odette. The Odette School of Business has shaped countless business leaders. It continues to foster innovation and excellence in the heart of Windsor.
