Slipping into my trusty time-traveling campervan, I set the dial for 1960s Heidelberg. Camping Haide was already a popular destination. The Neckar River shimmered. Campfires crackled. Laughter echoed through the romantic Neckar Valley. Camping Haide, nestled on the city limits of Heidelberg-Ziegelhausen, offered a unique blend of nature and convenience. It was just a short drive from the bustling city center. But it felt worlds away. Fast forward to today, and Camping Haide still retains its charm. This campsite is perfectly situated. It’s directly on the Neckar River, but don’t worry, it’s completely flood-proof. Picture this: over 200 parking spaces. Hot showers. Numerous washbasins and toilets. Even accessible sanitary rooms. If you’re traveling in a mobile home, there’s a free disposal station. For those who prefer a bit more comfort, Camping Haide offers cozy log houses. Each house boasts eight rooms with four beds. That’s a total of 160 beds. Larger groups can take advantage of the two mattress dormitories. One sleeps 25 people. The other accommodates 45. So, whether you’re pitching a tent, parking your campervan, or bunking in a log house, Camping Haide has you covered. From the beginning of April to the end of October, this riverside retreat welcomes adventurers from all walks of life. Camping Haide. It’s more than just a campsite. It’s a Heidelberg tradition.
