In the quiet outskirts of Milan, rests the Cimitero di Rho. It’s a place of somber beauty, where stories of lives lived whisper through the weathered stones. Cimitero di Rho isn’t just a cemetery. It’s a living archive of Rho’s history, etched in marble and granite. The Cimitero di Rho, as many know, faced a challenge in recent years. The available burial spaces, the loculi, were completely filled by August. This led to a temporary solution. The deceased were assigned to temporary loculi within the Cimitero di Rho itself. The municipality of Rho took on the responsibility of the subsequent exhumation and reburial in the final locations. Families only had to bear the standard cemetery burial expenses. No transfers to different cemeteries were necessary, simplifying the process within Cimitero di Rho. By September, plans were already in motion for the construction of new burial spaces at the Cimitero di Rho in Corso Europa. These plans included 68 new loculi and 100 ossuaries. Further expansion was planned for the Terrazzano cemetery with an additional sixteen loculi. This expansion was crucial for Cimitero di Rho. It ensured that the community could continue to lay their loved ones to rest with dignity. This demonstrates the commitment of the community to preserving the sanctity and functionality of Cimitero di Rho. The Vice-Mayor, Maria Rita Vergani, acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the delay in final placement. She explained that the need for new loculi at Cimitero di Rho, combined with the lengthy technical approval and construction process, presented a challenge. The municipality’s proactive approach aimed to mitigate the distress, ensuring that Cimitero di Rho remained a place of respect and remembrance.
