In 1993 whispers of a merger filled the air. Two congregations East San Diego and College Park Presbyterian Church faced challenges. Aging buildings and dwindling membership loomed. College Park Presbyterian Church a cornerstone of the community was chosen as the new location. Faith Presbyterian Church was born from this union.

The College Park Presbyterian Church campus had seen much. It witnessed decades of faithful service before the merger. It held the College Park Preschool since 1962. The preschool retained its name a testament to its long history. The merger however brought exciting changes.

Construction began in 1999. The sanctuary underwent a major remodel in 2002. Worship services temporarily moved to the Fellowship Hall. A house on Linda Paseo became the church office. The old administration building and preschool were demolished. Members parked on the street. By March 7 2004 the Building Project was complete. A celebration followed.

Robert Plimpton a renowned San Diego Civic Organist joined the staff in 1995. His talent drew many new members. He led a choir tour of Europe in 2000. His legacy lives on. Joe Rodriguez succeeded him as music director in 2002. He is known for his work with the Harmony Ringers.

The merger also fostered a partnership with the Sudanese community. They held services at the old East San Diego Presbyterian Church. Faith Presbyterian Church aided in building the Sudanese American Church. They contributed $150000 to the project. This was matched by the Presbytery. Additional contributions funded a medical clinic and educational scholarships.

Reverend Chris Lenocker served as pastor for twenty-one years. His tenure was marked by the merger and the building project. His dedication transformed the College Park Presbyterian Church. Reverend Dr Sam Codington succeeded him in 2009. He served until 2024.

The College Park Presbyterian Church stands as a testament to faith resilience and community. Its history is rich with stories of mergers renovations and unwavering support for those in need. The church continues to thrive. It serves as a place of worship and fellowship. It embodies the spirit of its founders.
