Treasured through generations, the Migawari Chizo Son, also known as the Body-Substituting Jizo, stands here. This Jizo embodies compassion. It has a story woven with faith and devotion.

The Migawari Chizo Son was originally enshrined in Hokodenzan Kitamido. It was during the Hoei era around 1707. A prominent figure named Konoike Zenemon sought to honor his life. He wished to accumulate virtue and piety. Konoike Zenemon commissioned a skilled craftsman to carve the Jizo’s likeness. The craftsman’s name is unknown. The Jizo embodies a compassionate and loving expression.

Legend says that believers are blessed with happiness. They reverently worship the Migawari Chizo Son. It has been venerated for generations. Even when the temple burned down, the Jizo miraculously remained unharmed. It was safely re-enshrined.

Later a woman dreamed of the Jizo. The Jizo expressed a desire for water. When water was offered in a flower vase, the Jizo’s miraculous power became known. The water never ran out.

In 1948, a group of South Prosperity Association members relocated and re-enshrined the Migawari Chizo Son here. They wished for the healthy growth of children. They also wanted domestic safety.

The Migawari Chizo Son is one of the six Jizo. These Jizo protect those in the afterlife. The statue of Komyochizo Bosatsu is enshrined together as the principal image. This Jizo is located northwest of Bic Camera.

People associated with the former tenants of the Sennichi Department store. They dedicated themselves to pray for the happiness of the victims. They invested their private funds. They devoted all their efforts to the Migawari Chizo Son. The exterior may appear new. It was likely renovated. The stone pillar dates back to 1707.

The Migawari Chizo Son stands as a testament to faith. It also shows devotion. It is a symbol of the enduring power of compassion.
