Asked to foster global leaders Kyoto Chokusai Junior High and High School was founded in 1947. The school’s goal is linguistic skills. These include English Korean and Japanese.
Kyoto Chokusai Junior High and High School started as Kyoto Chosen Jr. High School. This was specifically for Korean children in Japan. In 1958 it became Kyoto Kankoku Academy. By 1963 it included a high school.
This school played an important role. It became a place of ethnic education for Japanese-Korean people in Kyoto. In 2004 the school was approved by the Japanese government. It was then recognized as a regular school. Its name changed to Kyoto Kokusai Junior High and Senior High School.
