Separated from the bustling heart of Bangkok, Bueng Kum District offers a unique glimpse into the city’s multifaceted character. Bueng Kum, meaning “lake of the Crataeva plants,” takes its name from a prominent lake within Seri Thai Park. This lake, once a vital water reservoir for flood prevention, played a crucial role in the area’s development. Established as a district on September 4, 1989, Bueng Kum was originally part of Bang Kapi District. It initially encompassed three sub-districts: Khlong Kum, Khan Na Yao, and Saphan Sung. However, Khan Na Yao and Saphan Sung later became districts in their own right, leaving Bueng Kum with just Khlong Kum. Today, Bueng Kum is further divided into three sub-districts: Khlong Kum, Nawamin, and Nuan Chan. Beyond its administrative structure, Bueng Kum District holds treasures waiting to be discovered. Seri Thai Park, a sprawling green space, offers respite from the urban hustle. Within the park, the Seri Thai Memorial Hall and Museum delve into the history and significance of this tranquil oasis. Bueng Kum District invites you to explore its unique blend of nature, history, and community, a testament to Bangkok’s ever-evolving story.
