“Overcapacity” spurred a change. That’s right. The story of Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre begins with a need for more space. Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre is located in Mulaut in the Brunei-Muara District. It stands just outside Bandar Seri Begawan.

Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre, also known as Pusat Tingkatan Enam Sengkurong, opened in early 2014. The school’s establishment addressed the overcapacity issue at the former Katok Sixth Form Centre. Construction for Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre started in September 2011. The project cost approximately B$28 million. Ar Masri Hj Mohd Taha of Arkitek OPFIS designed the school complex. He was a British-trained Bruneian Chartered Architect.

When Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre opened, students, teachers, and staff transferred from Katok. The school also admitted a new student intake that year. Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre primarily serves students from nearby areas. These areas include Mukim Sengkurong and Mukim Gadong A and B. Students also come from Mukim Kilanas and Mukim Lumapas. A few students come from nearby villages in Tutong.

Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre provides a two-year A-level program. This program prepares secondary school leavers for academic post-secondary education. The school follows a specific schedule. Studies commence in late February or early March. This timing follows the release of O Level results each year. A-Level examinations take place in October and November of the following year.

The Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre campus sits on 16.58 acres of land. The student capacity can reach up to 1500. The facilities support a comprehensive learning environment. Classrooms offer spaces for traditional instruction. Science laboratories provide hands-on learning opportunities. Special rooms cater to specific subjects. These include Art, Design and Technology, and Food Studies. A multipurpose hall hosts various events. A multimedia hall supports technology-driven learning.
