It’s become a bustling hub, attracting a daily average of 35,000 visitors. This number swells to an impressive 90,000 on busy Advent Saturdays. The Thier-Galerie Dortmund connects directly to Westenhellweg, one of Germany’s busiest shopping streets. This prime location contributes to its popularity and accessibility. Imagine 160 shops spread across 33,000 square meters of retail space. That’s the Thier-Galerie Dortmund for you. This mid-sized shopping center offers a diverse mix of retail, dining, and services. Approximately 1,000 people work within these walls, keeping the heart of this retail giant beating. Thier-Galerie Dortmund represents a significant transformation of this urban space. What was once a brewery, then a vibrant nightlife area, is now a focal point for commerce and leisure. This transformation took over 15 years to realize. It involved negotiations, planning, and the demolition of existing structures like the Brinkmannhaus. The reconstruction incorporated some original elements, like a detailed replica of the Brinkmannhaus. The Thier-Galerie Dortmund even boasts a “house-in-house” concept. A freestanding triangular building stands in the center of the complex, connected by bridges to the surrounding structure. The mall stretches nine stories high, including two underground levels. It features parking on the third, fourth, and fifth floors, accommodating 730 vehicles. The Thier-Galerie Dortmund didn’t just fill a void. It reshaped the city landscape and revitalized the area.
