Teshie Branch Library

Can a library rise from structural defects? The Teshie Branch Library, nestled near the Southern Cluster of Schools in Teshie, stands as proof of resilience. The Teshie Branch Library’s journey began around 1990, starting its life in a humble rented space. In 2006, a new building, funded by the Member of Parliament, promised a brighter future. However, fate had other plans. Structural issues forced the library’s closure in 2010, leaving the community without this vital resource. The Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA) stepped in, diligently working to rectify the defects. Finally, in 2015, the Teshie Branch Library reopened its doors, a testament to community perseverance. Today, it stands about 100 meters from the Teshie Family Health Hospital, a beacon of knowledge and learning, ready to serve the community once more. In December 2023, Afriwave Telecom Ghana Limited transformed the library at the Teshie Orphanage into a state-of-the-art facility. This included new bookshelves, computers, and internet access. This act of generosity underscores the importance of community support in providing access to knowledge and educational resources. The Teshie Branch Library, and the revitalized orphanage library, represent not just access to books but also the community’s dedication to learning and growth.
