Why is Sculpture D’Esaka called Sculpture D’Esaka? Let’s uncover its artistic secrets together. Sculpture D’Esaka is more than just an art space. It is a haven where modern European sculptures meet serene Japanese aesthetics.

Sculpture D’Esaka features ten works by sculptors. These pieces represent the pinnacle of artistic expression. The museum was designed in 1997 by Kawakita Eiji and Nai Kaiji. The building itself is a work of art.

Inside Sculpture D’Esaka, spacious rooms showcase art. The displays highlight each piece. The cafe offers a unique experience. You can enjoy tea while viewing Malta Pan’s creations.

The outdoor garden, “Rinyu Branzi’s Garden,” surrounds Sculpture D’Esaka. This expansive green space displays outdoor sculptures for free.

Originally, in 1990, the “Rinyu Branzi’s Garden” was established. It focused on Malta Pan’s works. Later, in 1997, Sculpture D’Esaka was built. The museum exhibits world-renowned sculptors’ best works. These works are representative pieces. The space is intimate. It allows for a personal appreciation of each sculpture.

Sculpture D’Esaka also presents Dessins by Charles Despiau. African sculptures are on display. The sculpture garden features works by Marta Pan. There is also a piece by Uchinuma Haruyuki. The art pieces coexist with the lush greenery.

Malta Pan once said his works exist through space and surroundings. He wanted to create extensions of architecture. He aimed to mediate between the living and the dead. This concept is realized in “Rinyu Branzi’s Garden”.

At the reception, you can get a free IC recorder. It provides explanations of the works. The museum enhances understanding.

Three works particularly stand out. First is Bourdelle’s “Penelope”. Then there is Rodin’s “Torment”. Lastly, Manzu’s “Cardinal”.

Before entering Sculpture D’Esaka, there is a tea corner. You can sit on a Nakashima Lounge Chair. These chairs were designed by George Nakashima. Enjoy coffee from Richard Ginori cups. While sipping coffee, view Malta Pan’s “Split Globe”.

African tribal sculptures are also exhibited. Masks, figures and beds are on display. These sculptures inspired many artists including Picasso. They overflow with primal life force.

To get here, take the subway Midosuji Line. Get off at Esaka Station. From there, it’s a ten-minute walk. A shuttle bus is also available. It runs from Esaka Station exit 4.

Sculpture D’Esaka is not just a museum. It is an experience. It blends art, nature, and thoughtful design. It creates a space for reflection and inspiration.
