A small press conference hosted by TECOM, supported by the British Embassy, marked its arrival. Manchester Business School, or MBS as it’s often called, aimed to bring world-class business education to the Middle East. The school’s first cohort of just 20 MBA students, representing 14 nationalities, embarked on their learning journey. Today, Manchester Business School in Dubai stands as a testament to its initial vision. Now known as The University of Manchester Middle East Centre, it has blossomed into the largest center outside the UK, boasting over 2,000 students from a staggering 85 nationalities. The University of Manchester Middle East Centre pioneered business education in the region with its Global Part-time MBA. This innovative program recognizes the demands on working professionals. It offers blended learning, combining online instruction with the flexibility to attend workshops at any of the university’s global centers. This includes locations like Manchester, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, and of course, Dubai itself. Over the years, Manchester Business School has celebrated remarkable milestones. In 2013, under the patronage of Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, the center held its first Middle East graduation ceremony in Dubai. This marked a significant moment for the 85 graduating MBA students and solidified the center’s success. In 2019, the Forbes Middle East Higher Education Awards recognized Manchester Business School’s excellence. They bestowed the prestigious title of Best MBA Program, further confirming its standing as a leading institution. Beyond its academic achievements, Manchester Business School actively engages with the community. The “50 for 50” team’s participation in the Dubai Creek Striders half marathon showcased their commitment. They raised funds for Al Noor Training Centre for Children with Special Needs, demonstrating the school’s dedication to social responsibility. The center’s continuous growth is fueled by its commitment to innovation and collaboration. Events such as the Women in Business Forum, research initiatives on creativity in the GCC, and partnerships with organizations like Dubai Future Accelerators keep the school at the forefront of business thought leadership.
