Foster Creek Baptist Church

Picture this a humble brush arbor nestled beside Foster Creek. This was the genesis of Foster Creek Baptist Church. Its origins trace back to 1795. Then a church named Siloam was established. It was commonly known as Foster Creek. The congregation was integrated. A new building became necessary around 1856 for the growing Baptist community. George Hackett generously offered land for the new structure. This new church was named Berea. Berea and Foster Creek shared a connection until 1867. Then black members were granted permission to worship separately at Foster Creek. On a Sunday in September thirty-nine members from Berea organized and held their first service at Foster Creek. This marked a pivotal moment. This signified the church’s independence and the beginning of a new chapter. Foster Creek Baptist Church continued to grow and thrive. It eventually moved to its current location at 901 Foster Creek Road in Hanahan South Carolina. The church stands as a testament to the enduring faith of its members. It reflects the rich history and spiritual legacy of the community. Today Foster Creek Baptist Church remains an active part of the Hanahan community. Pastor Miguel A.
