How did six families from Allegany impact their community? Allegany Baptist Church stands before you as a testament to their faith and dedication. The church began modestly in the spring of 1964. Six families, bound by their shared faith, held Bible studies together for over two years. They felt a call to establish a more formal ministry within their community. Their first services were held in the Old Bucher School House on Four Mile Road. As word spread and their congregation grew, they sought a larger space. They found it in an unlikely place: an empty garage on Main Street. The garage was transformed. With more space for worship and fellowship, the church continued to thrive. Their growth continued, prompting the church to purchase 22 acres of land on Maple Avenue in 1968. This land came with an existing structure, a brick building that was renovated into a charming parsonage for their pastor. On July 28th, 1968, a new chapter began when the Allegany Baptist Church building you see today was completed. This building stands as a symbol of their enduring faith and their commitment to serving their community.
