How about a journey through time and knowledge? The destination is right here at the La Cañada Flintridge Library. It is a cornerstone of this community. This library wasn’t always in this building.

Established in May 1913, the La Cañada Flintridge Library started small. Imagine it in the rear of a general store. It was only the second branch of the Los Angeles County Public Library system. Think of it as a tiny seed that grew into a mighty tree.

By 1915, the library moved to La Cañada Elementary School. It remained there until 1934. Then the library relocated to a store on Foothill Boulevard. It stayed there until June 1947. These were times of change and growth for the library.

Temporary quarters were found in an elementary school shop building. Finally, a dedicated library building opened on February 22, 1951. The La Cañada Flintridge Library had a home. This was a significant milestone.

The current building opened on June 16, 1971. That makes it a spacious 16791 square feet. It was refurbished in 1998. The checkout desk was replaced in 2002. These updates kept the library modern and welcoming.

Today the La Cañada Flintridge Library offers many services. There are spaces for children and teens. Meeting rooms can accommodate up to 118 people. The library also provides access to computers including express computers.

Need research assistance? The library staff is here to help. They offer assistance in person and by telephone. You can even find a microfilm reader scanner printer. It connects the past with today’s information needs.

The La Cañada Flintridge Library is more than just books. It is a household battery recycling site. You can borrow laptop and hotspot kits. The library also provides MetroTAP cards.

The Friends of the La Cañada Flintridge Library support this vital institution. This volunteer run organization hosts book sales and events. They enrich the library experience.

As part of the Los Angeles County Library system, the La Cañada Flintridge Library connects to a vast network. LA County Library has 87 libraries. They serve 3.4 million residents. It is one of the largest and most innovative library systems in the US.

The LA County Library offers much more than physical resources. You can download eBooks and stream music. There are online collections available 24 hours a day. A library card opens a world of digital content.
