Its story began humbly in 1971, nestled in a modest apartment complex on FM 1960. Imagine those early days: Masses held in nearby elementary schools, faith formation sessions echoing in parishioners’ homes. By 1974, the community’s devotion had taken shape in its first church building. Prince of Peace Catholic Community continued to blossom, its story mirroring the growth of Houston itself. The parish witnessed the establishment of new churches like St. Ignatius Loyola, welcomed its first permanent deacon, and embraced its multicultural identity through events like the vibrant “International Night.” The year 1994 marked a turning point: a new, more spacious main church replaced its predecessor, a testament to the community’s burgeoning spirit.
