Could you imagine Bandar Seri Begawan without the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Bridge? This bridge is more than just a way to cross the Brunei River. It is a symbol of Brunei’s progress. The Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Bridge is also known as the Sungai Kebun Bridge. This cable-stayed bridge connects Pusat Bandar and Mukim Lumapas.

Queen Saleha inspires the bridge’s name. She is the queen consort of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. The bridge officially opened on October 14 2017. It was Brunei’s first cable-stayed bridge. Its tower is now the tallest structure in the country.

Crown Prince Al-Muhtadee Billah officiated it. Daelim Industrial, a South Korean company, and Swee, a local company, worked together. The bridge took about three years to build. It cost B$139 million. That was about $100 million US dollars in October 2017.

The Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Bridge opened to the public on a trial basis on October 2 2017. The grand opening ceremony took place on October 14 2017. It celebrated the Golden Jubilee of Hassanal Bolkiah. Fireworks lit up the sky. Howard & Sons, Hunan Dream Fireworks, and Liuyang Intently Fireworks created the display. Decorated floats paraded across the bridge.

Consider how this bridge improves daily life. Before its construction, crossing the Brunei River was less convenient. Now, travel is faster and easier. The Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Bridge stands as a testament to Brunei’s development and its commitment to its people. It is a functional structure and a symbol of national pride.
