This building, nestled within Madrid’s Ciudad Universitaria, has been shaping the future of Spanish justice since it opened its doors on June 6, 1950. The Centro de Estudios Jurídicos isn’t just a building. It’s a living testament to the evolution of Spain’s legal system. Originally established as the “Escuela Judicial Española” by a law on May 26, 1944, the Centro de Estudios Jurídicos has undergone several transformations, reflecting the changing times. Initially, it was responsible for the training of judges and prosecutors. After 1994, its focus shifted, and the Centro de Estudios Jurídicos became the primary training center for other essential legal professionals. Today, the Centro de Estudios Jurídicos collaborates with the Ministry of Justice. It trains court clerks, forensic doctors, specialists from the National Institute of Toxicology and Forensic Sciences, and other personnel serving the Administration of Justice. The CEJ also collaborates with the Attorney General’s Office in the training of public prosecutors and the State Attorney General’s Office for the continuous training of State Attorneys. It even plays a role in the specialized training of State Security Forces and Corps in their judicial police function. The Centro de Estudios Jurídicos is more than just a training center. It is a hub for continuous learning, offering a wide array of activities, including initial and ongoing training courses. These courses cover a broad spectrum of legal subjects relevant to the functions performed by various legal professionals. The Centro de Estudios Jurídicos also holds a unique position in the training of future judicial police.
