Originally dedicated in June of 1958 Memorial Lutheran Church stands as a testament to faith and community. It began as a suburban church. Now, it’s a beacon in the heart of Houston’s Galleria area.

Memorial Lutheran Church has evolved with the city for over fifty years. It thrives more than ever. This church is more than just a building. It is a living, breathing part of Houston’s history.

Let’s talk about its location. You will find Memorial Lutheran Church at 5800 Westheimer Road. It is about a mile west of the Galleria Shopping Complex. This puts it right in the middle of everything.

The newest building was dedicated on September 7 2008. This significant structure responds thoughtfully to the site’s architectural character. The facility provides much-needed space. It retains the history and memories associated with this special place. The expansion adds over 22000 square feet. This space is used for fellowship, music, education, and administration.

In 2012 renovations began on the original 8200 square foot sanctuary. This was originally built in 1958. The renovations included new restrooms and a bride’s or nursing mother’s room. An expanded balcony was added along with a new baptismal font. New pews, resurfaced flooring, and a new vesting area were also part of the project. A unisex family restroom and a prayer room completed the upgrades.

Memorial Lutheran Church is a member congregation of the LCMS. It joyfully receives the gift of forgiveness. This gift was won by Christ Jesus through his life and death. You are welcome to receive these gifts too.

Memorial Lutheran School is also on site. It offers classical Christian education. The school serves infants through 12th graders. The school was established in 1980 as a ministry of Memorial Lutheran Church. It teaches children to love and serve their neighbor. It also helps them become successful learners and effective leaders.

The church offers Sunday services at 8:15 AM and 11:00 AM. These Divine Services are a central part of the community’s life. Memorial Lutheran Church and School sits on a five-acre site. It proclaims the gospel in Uptown Houston. It is a place where faith and community intertwine.
