Established in 1971, Christ Assembly Church has a rich history here in National City. Did you know it was founded by Pastor Jesse Rose? He led the church until his retirement in 2000. Then, his grandson, Scott Cross, took the helm, continuing the church’s legacy. Christ Assembly Church is described as a Pentecostal church, part of the Full Gospel denomination. It’s a relatively small, family-oriented congregation committed to teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. They extend a warm welcome, assuring everyone they’re “only a visitor once”. The church holds Wednesday Bible Study at 7:00pm. You can find Christ Assembly Church at 1401 Roosevelt Avenue, right here in National City. The original founder, Pastor Jesse Rose, had a fascinating life. He began preaching at the young age of 20, traveling throughout the southern United States. He even pastored churches in Arkansas and Tennessee before finally establishing Christ Assembly Church here in San Diego County. His daughter, Norma Jean Rose Cabezuela, beautifully recounts his journey and the early days of the church. The church experienced a period of remarkable growth when a young Marine, Alan Kemper, and his Navy shipmate, Mike Cross Sr., started attending. They initiated prayer meetings and Bible studies on their ship, the U.S.S. Blueridge, even while deployed near Vietnam. Upon their return, they brought over a hundred new members to Christ Assembly Church, many of whom met their spouses within the congregation. Pastor Rose’s legacy continued even after his passing in 2009. His book, “Confessions of Faith,” offers further insights into his life and beliefs. Today, Christ Assembly Church remains a testament to his dedication and the enduring power of faith.
