Envision willows. More than 4000 years ago, the King Yufu ordered willows to be planted as a national boundary here in Wanchun.

Welcome to Wanchun in Chengdu. This town boasts a rich history stretching back over 4000 years. It is the ancient site of Yufu city in Wenjiang. Imagine this place as the capital of the Yufu Dynasty.

The area was known as Liucheng meaning Willow City because of the willows. After King Yufu died the city continued to welcome spring. It did this with thousands of willows every year.

During the Sui Dynasty, Wanchun County was established. People still called it Liucheng. Over time, waterways shifted. The county seat moved south and became what is now Liucheng in Wenjiang. The name changed to Wenjiang in the Tang Dynasty.

The tradition of planting willows remained popular. The last large-scale planting occurred during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty. Over 700 willows were planted along the HaoGou embankment around the city. The name Liucheng spread far and wide for four thousand years.

After the county moved south, the ancient Liucheng became known as the Land of Wanchun. That is the Wanchun we know today. Wanchun is located in the north of Wenjiang District. It is a place filled with historical and cultural sites. The town actively develops its industry.

In 2018, Wenjiang District that contains Wanchun reported a GDP of 54.5 billion Yuan. This was an increase of 8.8% from the previous year. Wanchun focuses on green development. It also highlights circular and low-carbon development. The aim is to integrate industries and cities. The goal is to build China’s most beautiful ecological pastoral happy town. It is a town with pastoral characteristics and a profound cultural heritage.

Wanchun was selected as one of the Top 1000 towns with comprehensive strength in China in 2019. Wanchun town has a strategy of one heart two corridors and many points. This approach promotes integration between industry and the town itself. Social management innovation is strengthened. People’s livelihoods are improved. The aim is a beautiful ecological pastoral town.

The town covers an area of 53.36 square kilometers. In 2017, the total population was 64230. There are 15305 mu of arable land. There are also 1980 mu of construction land. Furthermore, there are 636 mu of roads. Rivers cover 166 mu. Ditches occupy 423 mu. Greening land accounts for 587 mu. The urban area spans 1.1 square kilometers which equals 17 mu.

The town works to shape the brand of ecological town. It is building a characteristic water town in Western Sichuan. Wanchun pursues projects to enrich people and increase income. They focus on improving the town. The town promotes cultural projects. They strive to improve the lives of the public servants.

Several flower circulation enterprises have been introduced. These include companies from Australia, Shanghai, and Yunnan. This created a framework for a western flower trading center. The town also introduced Guangdong pioneer horticulture. This achieved progress in flower technology. It formed a framework for a western flower research and development center. The town has become the largest information gathering and distribution center. It combines a visible market with an invisible market in Western China.

Since 2007, Wanchun has introduced several large-scale flower enterprises. This improved the organization and scale of the flower industry. It effectively promoted the construction of flower and tree bases.
