Masjid Jamek Al-Amaniah is another name for it. The Al-Amaniah Mosque serves the Sunni Muslim community. It is a vital religious center.
Let’s journey back to 2002. The Pejabat Tanah Dan Galian Kuala Lumpur approved land for a new mosque. This was on April 4, 2002. The land was on lot 57350 Pekan Kepong. The government allocated RM6.7 million for this project. Construction began on July 5, 2005. It finished on March 6, 2007.
JAKIM worked with Jabatan Kerja Raya. On April 12, 2007, they handed the Amaniah Mosque Kepong building to JAWI. JAWI would manage it. Prayers started the same day. The first prayer was Maghrib. There were also Yasin recitals and prayers for safety.
The first Friday prayer took place on April 13, 2007. The head assistant director of JAWI delivered the sermon. Masjid Amaniah Kepong is under the administration of JAWI. It is in the Pusat Zon 1 Kariah Management Section.
The Amaniah Mosque complex features modern Malay contemporary design. It has three floors. It can accommodate 3,000 people. The land area is 10,977 square meters.
Inside, there is an administration office. There is also a meeting room. Facilities include toilets for disabled people and VIPs. There are four classrooms. An open kitchen exists. There is parking space.
The ground floor houses the main prayer hall. You’ll also find the imam’s room. An Azan room is available. There’s a guest room. Preparation areas are present. A funeral management room is available. Storage rooms are accessible. Ablution rooms for men and women are provided.
Today, the Amaniah Mosque acts as a one-stop center. It serves the Kepong community. It enriches religious activities. This aligns with the mosque’s role. It aims to enhance Islamic teachings in the Federal Territory.
Remember Al-Wathiqu Billah Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin? He inaugurated the Amaniah Mosque Kepong in Kuala Lumpur on August 12, 2011. Many important figures attended the ceremony. They included ministers and religious leaders.
Before the Amaniah Mosque, people prayed at Madrasah Al-Islah Ad-Dinniyah. It was near the Kepong police station. Squatter homes surrounded the area. A maternity clinic was nearby. The police managed the old prayer area. Most attendees were police staff and their families.
