It began in December 1993. Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Taman Sri Muda started its journey. The school initially operated at SMK Seksyen 24 in Shah Alam. Puan Lim Siew Khim supervised the school.

Let’s step back to September 1 1994. Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Taman Sri Muda found its permanent home. It moved to a new building. This building was on Jalan Sabar 25/83 Taman Sri Muda 40400 Shah Alam.

Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Taman Sri Muda is more than just bricks and mortar. It is a hub of learning. It is a place of growth for over 1800 students. A dedicated team of 110 teachers guides them. SMK Taman Sri Muda commits to quality education. It provides a comprehensive curriculum. This caters to diverse student needs. Core subjects are available such as mathematics science and languages. Vocational and technical streams are also offered. SMK Taman Sri Muda equips students with necessary skills. It prepares them for the 21st century.

Did you know that Kelab Angklung Wariseni is a point of pride at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Taman Sri Muda? Puan Norazlena Binti Lazim founded it on October 11 2010. The club uses the skills of 10 to 20 members in each performance. They play evergreen modern and current songs. They cover various genres. This suits different listener tastes. Club members train twice a week on Thursdays and Saturdays. If there is an outside performance they will practice three days in a row to refine their performance. New club members receive intensive daily training. This allows them to play well with senior members.

In 2022 the club had 50 active members. They consisted of students from Form One to Form Five. Two teacher advisors led them. Since its founding the teachers involved were Puan Elsa Majmiza Binti Murad Khan Puan Malisa Binti Mohd Mohayudin Puan Azwani Binti Sibiramalek Puan Hafiza Binti Ahmad and Puan Siti Raxkina Binti Kulop Ahmad. Encik Ahmad Izzakir bin Wan Jusoh and Cik Noor Fatinah binti Md Nor@Ab.Rahim joined as apprentice teacher advisors in 2022.

The club’s activities have received media coverage. Sinar Harian and Berita Harian newspapers covered it. Utusan Malaysia Melaka Hari Ini majalahdara.com and YEZZ by Karangkraf also gave coverage. The club has participated in competitions. These include Mimpi ke Bintang Muzik Ekstra and the Handicraft Talent Competition.

The Kelab Angklung Wariseni has performed internationally. They performed at the Malaysia International Children Choral Festival 2017. It was held at UiTM Shah Alam. They also performed at the ASEAN School Games 2018 also at UiTM Shah Alam. They played at Woman 2 Win in Hotel Intercontinental Kuala Lumpur 2022. TV1 covered the club in Selamat Pagi Malaysia. Other TV appearances include Generasi Y Tiada Lama Tiada Baru on TV2.

The club also performed at the International Bird Race Opening Ceremony in Bukit Fraser. They played at the 1MCAT Opening Ceremony at KLCC organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Malaysia.

The Ministry of Women Family and Community Development invited the club on September 29 2016. They played at a Majlis Menjunjung Kasih Seri Paduka Baginda Raja Permaisuri Agong. It took place at Hotel Berjaya Time Square Kuala Lumpur.

The Kelab Angklung Wariseni ran the 1Malaysia Angklung Exploration Program in 2016 and 2017. The club has produced a mini album. It contains 14 international and traditional songs. They used the proceeds from CD and VCD sales in the Internationalization Program. It was called “Tradition Preservation” in Bandung.

The Kelab Angklung Wariseni was invited to perform before Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah. The event was the Srikandi Award Ceremony in 2018.

Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Taman Sri Muda continues to shine. It adapts to meet the needs of its students. It remains a beacon of hope for future generations.
