Faculty of Tourism and Foreign Languages Building

From a small Faculty of Pedagogy, the Faculty of Tourism and Foreign Languages Building at Hanoi University of Industry has blossomed. It’s quite a transformation since its humble beginnings in 2000. Initially, the faculty was established under Decision No. 377 QD/TC-HC, a seemingly insignificant piece of paperwork that set in motion a significant evolution. The Faculty of Tourism and Foreign Languages Building, as we know it today, wasn’t even called that at first. It started as the Faculty of Pedagogy. Then, in 2014, it underwent a name change to the Tourism – Pedagogy Department. Finally, it settled into its current name: the Faculty of Tourism and Foreign Languages Building, reflecting its expanded scope. This name change isn’t just cosmetic. It signifies a shift in the faculty’s focus, incorporating the burgeoning field of foreign languages. Today, the Faculty of Tourism and Foreign Languages Building isn’t just one department. It’s comprised of four divisions: Tourism, Travel and Tourism Management, Hospitality Management, and an Administrative Division. This structure reflects the diverse nature of the tourism and languages industry, allowing for specialization and in-depth study. The Faculty of Tourism and Foreign Languages Building isn’t just about theory. It houses modern practice areas, including tour tutorial rooms, tour operating rooms, and computer rooms equipped with hotel management software. Students can hone their practical skills in a restaurant, a reception practice room, a chamber practice room, and even a bar practice room. These hands-on experiences prepare students for real-world scenarios, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and practical application. Imagine learning the intricacies of hospitality management in a real restaurant setting, or practicing tour operations in a simulated environment. The faculty’s dedication to practical training ensures that graduates are not just theoretically proficient but also practically adept. Currently, the Faculty of Tourism and Foreign Languages Building is home to around 30 lecturers and staff, led by Dean Dr. Than Thanh Son and Vice Deans Dr. Cao Thi Thanh and Dr. Nguyen Phuong Thao. These individuals are shaping the future of the tourism and foreign language industries, guiding students and contributing to the faculty’s continued development.
