Even in his later years, his connection with his former scouts remained strong. Imagine the joy as Don Eugenio, in December, just a few years ago, celebrated his 98th birthday via Zoom. Surrounded, albeit virtually, by his scouts, including Enrico Fontana, the former mayor of Villasanta, Don Ceppi’s impact on their lives was undeniable. Fontana himself remarked, “If today there is a strong scout group […] we owe it to Don Eugenio.” The Pioppo del centenario di Don Ceppi Plaque serves as a physical reminder of his enduring spirit.
