Floating gently above the water a modern treehouse stands. This is Haus G 03 in Potsdam. It is not just a building. It is a statement of modern architecture. It is a testament to sustainable living.
Haus G 03 embodies a perfect harmony between design and nature. Imagine a structure where geometric wooden cubes merge seamlessly with the tops of ancient trees. The building appears to float on thin steel stilts. This unique design was conceived by architect Carlos Zwick.
Twenty-five years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, this modern marvel was built on a historic lake property. Ancient trees, the water, and preserved natural terraces dictated Zwick’s architectural concept. The result is a passive house. It integrates respectfully into its surroundings, using sustainable building materials.
Large wooden sliding windows blur the lines between interior and exterior. A loggia seems to hover above the water. Remarkably, a large maple tree grows right through the living room.
The house spans a total area of 712 square meters on a 4,000-square-meter site. It was completed in 2020. José Campos captured its beauty through stunning photographs. M.A.T.O. Gesellschaft für Tragkonstruktionen mbH served as project partners.
Haus G 03 is a residential project showcasing innovative lighting solutions. Delta Light highlights the house’s features with its products. These include Logic 90 R, Spy 39 Clip, and Ultra X. Shiftline M26H profiles and Splitline M/Shiftline M – Dot.Com M4 add to the ambiance. Punk 621 C and Punk 622 C fixtures complete the lighting design. They are ideal for both indoor and outdoor use.
The house uses outdoor and ground recessed lighting to enhance its exterior. Entrance areas, kitchens, and living rooms benefit from the carefully chosen indoor lighting.
