The church is a satellite ministry of Youth With A Mission in Tyler, Texas. YWAM New Orleans has a strong belief that New Orleans is a “port” used by God to gather and send out Christians. The church hosts a variety of missions throughout the year, focusing on outreach in New Orleans and helping the city’s homeless population. They also provide free pregnancy counseling, testing, and ultrasounds at their local pregnancy center. A founding scripture for the church is taken from Jeremiah 29:5-7, which tells people to “seek the peace of the city…and pray to the Lord for it;for in its peace you will have peace.” Today, the church is a beacon of hope in the city, particularly after suffering devastating damage to their buildings from Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Fortunately, they were able to recover quickly, and are committed to serving the community.
