The Chiesa Parrocchiale di Gesù Salvatore is unlike any other church you’ve ever seen. It’s not in the heart of Milan, but on the outskirts, in a modern residential district called Milano 3. The church was built in 1988, and its unusual design reflects the modernity of its surroundings. It’s a striking example of how contemporary architecture can still embrace the spirit of faith. Architect Giancarlo Ragazzi, known for his work on Milano 2 and Milano 3, designed this church to be a symbol of hope and renewal for the community. The building is divided into two sections: the lower part is dominated by a large, glass facade; the upper part is dominated by a hexagonal tower that rises from the roof, acting as a beacon of light and faith. The church is built in concrete, except for a small wooden frame that supports its large, sloping roof. The interior is spacious and light-filled, thanks to the large windows that let in natural light. The altar is located in the center of the church, and the surrounding space is organized in an amphitheater style, inviting people to share in the communion. The church’s architecture is designed to evoke a sense of unity, and its interior is a testament to the power of faith.
