Have you ever imagined finding a comedy club in a former church? Here at The Tiny Cupboard in Bushwick, that’s exactly what you’ll discover. The Tiny Cupboard isn’t your average comedy venue. It started in 2019 as a small performance space. It was tucked away in a 153-square-foot art studio. The name, as you might have guessed, comes from its humble beginnings. When the pandemic hit and indoor venues closed, The Tiny Cupboard adapted. It moved to a rooftop in the summer of 2020. This allowed them to continue providing much-needed laughter during a difficult time. The Tiny Cupboard solidified its identity as a community-focused indie comedy club. In 2021, they opened their indoor “pink main room.” This room, interestingly enough, was formerly a church. This was necessary for some legal reasons during the setup of the venue. The original tiny studio space still exists. It’s primarily used for open mic nights now. The Tiny Cupboard prides itself on being a grassroots operation. It was built by the community without any outside investors. They offer affordable shows, usually between $10 and $15, with no drink minimums. They aim for a cool, young, and respectful atmosphere. They strive to book comedians who contribute to that positive vibe. And get this: The Tiny Cupboard hosts comedy shows every single night! They’ve even implemented fun additions like board games at every seat. You can play before or after the shows, adding another layer of entertainment to your experience.
