Who could have imagined glamping in the heart of Milan? Yet, in the shadow of the Castello Sforzesco, Villa Crippa played a surprising role during Milan Design Week 2019. CRIPPACONCEPT, a leading Italian manufacturer of glamorous mobile homes and lodge tents, chose this historic location to showcase the future of luxury outdoor holidays. Villa Crippa became the stage for a unique glamping experience, dubbed “Nuovi Sogni,” or “New Dreams.” CRIPPACONCEPT aimed to introduce over 500,000 visitors to the innovative design and sustainability of glamping. They set up two showpieces: the Queenslander mobile home and the A-Luxury Lodge. The Queenslander, a nautical-inspired design by Milanese architect Luca Colombo, featured a zinc-copper-titanium exterior and a yacht-like interior. The two-story A-Luxury Lodge, designed by architect Roberto Perego, offered two bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen, and a spacious lounge extending outdoors. This display at Villa Crippa wasn’t merely a design exercise. It represented existing glamping accommodations found in Italian and Croatian villages and campsites. CRIPPACONCEPT’s CEO, Sergio Redaelli, emphasized their commitment to sustainable design and creating a wellness experience accessible to all. Villa Crippa, during this event, became a testament to the evolving landscape of outdoor tourism, blending luxury with nature.
