Two Strike Park got its unique moniker from a local baseball team. This wasn’t just any team. They were so good they needed only two strikes to call a batter out. This impressive feat led to the park being named in their honor. Two Strike Park is more than just a place with a quirky name. It’s a vibrant part of the Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation system. This system has a rich history, dating back to before 1944 when park operations were split between the Parks Division and the Department of Recreation, Camps and Playgrounds. Today, the department oversees a vast network of parks, including natural areas, lakes, and even the Hollywood Bowl. Two Strike Park itself recently received some love thanks to the LA Clippers. In December 2024, the LA Clippers Foundation partnered with the LA County Dept. of Parks and Recreation and the LA County Parks Foundation to refurbish the basketball court. The Clippers donated a whopping $5.3 million to improve all 117 basketball courts in the county system, including the one right here at Two Strike Park.
