“Is it just me or does Porto look even more magical from up here?” Welcome to one of Porto’s many viewpoints. These viewpoints are called miradouros.
The Miradouro gives us spectacular views. From here we can see Porto’s colorful rooftops. We can also see its historic monuments. Of course, we can’t miss the majestic Douro River. The Douro is famous for the valley where port wine comes from.
Many find great satisfaction in climbing Porto’s hills. That feeling of awe when a great view opens up before you is unique. Luckily, there are many “WAW”-moments waiting for us here.
The Miradouro da Vitória is one of the city’s best-known miradouros. It is located in Porto’s old town. From here, we can appreciate the Sé Catedral do Porto. We also have an incredible view of the Douro River.
From the Miradouro das Fontainhas we can contemplate the Douro River. The city’s greatness unfolds before us. It is a breathtaking view.
Another fantastic spot is the Miradouro da Serra do Pilar. It’s just across from Porto in Vila Nova de Gaia. The views from here are breathtaking. From here we see the city and the Douro River. The Monastery of Serra do Pilar is famous for its church. Its circular cloister is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The Miradouro offers an even more magical experience at night. The city is beautifully illuminated then.
The Miradouro das Virtudes is another option. It faces west. It is oriented towards the ocean. The sun always sets there. From here, we have a beautiful view of the Virtudes park.
