How about a church that builds families? That’s Christ Temple of Peace Church. This church is a non-denominational body of believers. It operates under the leadership of Pastor Karen L. Wilson.

Christ Temple of Peace Church was founded in 1993. It serves as a refuge. This refuge is for those seeking a lasting relationship with Christ. The church doesn’t just offer a religious experience. Its gifts serve to build families, singles, and couples. It welcomes anyone desiring a closer walk with God.

The church believes in the power of the Holy Spirit. It thinks ordinary people can do extraordinary ministry. They can serve an extraordinary God. Christ Temple of Peace’s mission is clear. It aims to point to salvation by lifting up Christ. This mission is based on John 12:32. The verse says, “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto Me.” The church’s faith compels it to serve the Lord.

Let’s talk about Pastor Karen L. Wilson. She is the third of eight children. Wilson is a proud Southeast Washington D.C. native. She moved to the Hampton Roads region. She attended Hampton University. Wilson graduated in 1983. Then she began her teaching career. It was in the Virginia Beach Public School System. She taught for 29 years.

Pastor Wilson balanced family, career, and ministry. She was one of the founding members of Christ Temple of Peace. She served in various ministries. Wilson was licensed to preach in 1997. She was ordained in 2000. Later that year, she was called to pastor the church. In December 2012, she retired from teaching. She devoted herself to full-time ministry.

Wilson is married to James Rockwell Wilson, Sr. They have a daughter, Willie and a son, Jimmy. They are also proud grandparents. Their granddaughters are Wynter and Bryce.

Pastor Wilson has an anchor verse. It has been with her for over two decades. It’s from I Corinthians 15:10-11. It reads, “… by the grace of God I am what I am and His grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain but I labored more abundantly than they all yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. Therefore whether it were I or they, so I preach, and so ye believed.”
