Question: What began as a solution to post-war hardship now welcomes travelers from around the globe? It is the story of Campingplatz am Möslepark.

Our campground sits in a relaxing spot. It is close to Freiburg’s historic center. But the story of Campingplatz am Möslepark begins long before today’s modern amenities.

In 1955, Siegfried and Hannelore Busse founded Campingplatz am Möslepark. This was a new chapter after World War II. In 1944, bombs destroyed Siegfried Busse’s woodworking shop. It was a Kunst- und Möbelschreinerei. He rebuilt his business near the Waldsee using rubble from the city.

The Busse family adapted to changing times. The post-war era saw a surge in roller skating. Freiburg’s first roller rink was created on their land. It hosted big events with famous skaters. In 1954, the refreshment hall became “Busses Waldschänke”. Jazz music filled the air.

As tourism returned to Freiburg, Siegfried Busse had an idea. In 1955, he transformed the meadow into a campground. He gave up the woodworking business. This beautiful place near the old town became popular quickly. Founding the Campingplatz am Möslepark was his best idea.

In 1977, the “Waldkurbad” opened on the old rink site. It added sauna, steam bath, and massage services. The “Waldschänke” specialized in organic food in the 1980s. This continued until 2014.

Today, the Busse family’s third generation runs Campingplatz am Möslepark. Claus Busse took over in 2005. He brought modern updates. In 2014, they opened a new bathroom facility. Eight hotel rooms were added. The camping association gave them four stars.

The old “Waldschänke” became “Busses Waldcafe” in 2015. Guests can enjoy breakfast and local coffee. More hotel rooms were built in 2017 and 2018. “Busses Guesthouse” now has 18 rooms.

Campingplatz am Möslepark is open from March 1st to December 20th. It offers 73 tourist pitches on a 1-hectare site. The ground is solid. It is located 2.5 km from the city center. A bus or train station is 0.8 km away. The lake is only 0.3 km away.

Guests appreciate the clean facilities. They value the friendly service. It is ideal for hiking and cycling. The Campingplatz am Möslepark is family-friendly. It offers a playground and a paddling pool. There is free Wi-Fi. The bathroom facilities are accessible.

A night costs between 37 and 40 euros. This includes two adults, a caravan, a car, and electricity. The campground has a store. A bread service ensures a relaxed start to the day. Guests rate the food a 4 out of 5.

From humble beginnings, Campingplatz am Möslepark welcomes everyone. It is a place where nature meets city life. It is a story of family tradition and innovation.
