Seventy-six souls. That’s how many people filled the Glendale Armenian Church of the Nazarene for its very first service on July 29 1979. Can you imagine the energy the excitement? The Glendale Armenian Church of the Nazarene wasn’t just a building. It was a beacon a new home for a community. Rev Habib Alajaji the founding pastor guided this fledgling flock for twenty-five years. His leadership saw average attendance explode. It more than tripled during his tenure.
The Glendale Armenian Church of the Nazarene served both Armenian and English-speaking communities. It was a meeting place a place of shared faith. It fostered a strong sense of family among its diverse members. The church was designed to be a place of love encouragement and support.
In 2006 Rev Hrag Karagoezian took the reins. A younger pastor full of energy and musical talent. He dedicated sixteen years to the Glendale Armenian Church of the Nazarene. He helped to shape its future and further develop the spiritual life of the congregation. Following his departure Rev Joe Matossian served as an interim pastor.
After much prayer the Glendale Armenian Church of the Nazarene found its current leader Rev Serop Megerditchian. He continues the legacy of faith and service. He welcomes people to a warm and friendly church. He views the members of the church not just as a congregation but as a family. The Glendale Armenian Church of the Nazarene continues to thrive under his guidance. It remains a vital part of its community offering spiritual nourishment and support. It’s more than just a building. It’s a living testament to faith community and perseverance.
